Midzkidz - Parties & Entertainment - Safeguarding Policy

1. Introduction:

Midzkidz – Parties & Entertainment and all it’s staff and volunteers are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children who participate in our entertainment services or attend any party or event hosted by Midzkidz - Parties and Entertainment. This safeguarding policy outlines our commitment to protecting children from harm, neglect and any and all forms of abuse, as well as ensuring their continued welfare and safety.

2. Purpose:

The purpose of this safeguarding policy is to:

  • Protect children and teenagers from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

  • Provide guidelines for, management, staff and volunteers to recognize and respond to safeguarding concerns.

  • Promote a culture of vigilance and accountability and responsibility regarding child protection within our company and all its operations.

3. Scope:

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, contractors, and anyone involved in the delivery of Midzkidz - Parties and entertainment services, for all children.

4. Key Principles:

  • The welfare of the child/ children is always paramount.

  • All children, regardless of age, gender, ability, ethnicity, or background, have the right to be protected from harm.

  • All staff and volunteers have a responsibility to safeguard children and report any concerns immediately to relevant authorities.

  • Confidentiality will be maintained, except where disclosure is necessary to protect a child from harm.

5. Definitions:

  • Child: A person under the age of 18.

  • Safeguarding: The process of protecting children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

  • Child Abuse: Any and all forms of physical or Emotional harm inflicted upon a child, including neglect and exploitation.

6. Staff Vetting:

  • All staff, including volunteers and contractors, are required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before commencing employment or volunteering duties.

  • The DBS check will be conducted in accordance with government regulations and will include a thorough review of the individual's criminal record history.

  • Staff who do not successfully pass the DBS check will not be permitted to work with children in any capacity within the organization.

7. Responsibilities:

  • Management: The management team is responsible for ensuring that all staff undergo DBS checks and that appropriate safeguarding measures are in place.

  • Staff and Volunteers: All staff and volunteers have a duty to safeguard children and report any concerns to the designated safeguarding officer.

  • Designated Safeguarding Officer: Joseph Baker (Owner) is responsible for overseeing the implementation of this policy, providing support and advice to staff and volunteers, and liaising with external agencies as necessary.

8. Code of Conduct:

  • Treat all children; without exception, with respect, support and dignity.

  • Never engage in any form of physical contact, or physical/emotional abuse.

  • Follow appropriate procedures for reporting safeguarding concerns to appropriate channels

  • Maintain professional boundaries with children and avoid behaviours that could be misinterpreted.

9. Reporting Procedures:

  • Any safeguarding concerns should be reported to the designated safeguarding officer immediately.

  • Concerns should be recorded in writing using the designated safeguarding reporting form. (downloadable at the bottom of this page)

  • The designated safeguarding officer will follow up on all concerns, liaise with external agencies, police and social services as necessary, and take appropriate action to safeguard the child.

10. Training and Awareness:

​

  • All staff and volunteers will receive training on safeguarding procedures and child protection upon satisfaction of an enhanced DBS check.

  • Regular awareness-raising activities will be conducted to promote a culture of safeguarding within the organization.

​

11. Review and Monitoring:

This safeguarding policy will be reviewed annually to ensure that it remains up-to-date and effective in protecting children from harm.
